06/14/2009 - 2009 Scholarship Luncheon - "Higher Education: Our Responsibility"
Glen Sanders Mansion, 11:30am to 2:30pm

OAlbany, NY, April 22, 2009 – Since 1920, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., has internationally promoted education and service as priorities for its members and their surrounding communities, including New York’s Capital Region. On Sunday, June 14, 2009 Omicron Epsilon Zeta Chapter will host its annual Scholarship Luncheon entitled “Higher Education: OUR Responsibility” as a kick-off event for the “Capital District Educational Foundation,” an organization whose principle purpose is to award scholarship/fellowship grants to worthy students for the pursuit of higher education. Starting in 2010, the “Capital District Educational Foundation” will award scholarships to college-bound females who have excelled in scholastic achievement, commitment to education, and service to her community.

This year’s luncheon, hosted at Glen Sanders Mansion in Scotia, NY, will honor educational administrators in the region who have done an exceptional job in creating a foundation for the youth of our community to build upon. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. L. Oliver Robinson, Superintendent of the Shenendehowa Central School District. Dr. Robinson received his Ph.D. from the University at Albany in 1996 and who was more recently the superintendent of Mohonasen Central School District and received The Business Review's Best and Brightest Under 40 Award in 2004.
